Hush Puppy NJ Obedience Training

"Be Proactive Not Reactive"

Hush Puppy NJ Training and Obedience

Through our private lesson training, we will teach you how to become a good leader to your pet, one he can respect and look up to.  If your dog doesn't respect you as the leader, he's going to take the role and expect you to respect him....which would you prefer?  We do not use the antiquated method of choke chains, prong collars, harsh punishment, bark collars or any other type of physical torture method. In fact feel free to read what AVSAB's position is on aversive training: AVSAB Position on Aversive Training Techniques

We will address problem behaviors in both you and your dog and we are going to help you teach your dog the obedience and manners that's expected.

Some of the problem behaviors we address with both him and you are:

  • excessive barking - Do you want your dog barking when you're on the phone? I think not.  You are going to be able to give him his cue word or gesture and he will know exactly what's expected.
  • pay attention to you - the correct way.  we've all heard of velcro dogs and no one wants one.  we love our dogs to come when called then go lay down when we are busy.  well with the correct training and a little effort on your part, you can have that.
  • stop jumping - does your dog jump higher than you are tall?  well, not after Hush Puppy NJ stops by
  • recall of your dog - rest assured your dog will come when you call him <-------  extremely important!
  • dashing through open doors - have your dog sit and wait for you to go through the doorway first, as it should be!
  • undesirable behavior - digging, chewing

Some of the obedience training we will teach you and your dog are:

  • polite greetings - instead of having a jumping, hyper, barking dog when someone rings the doorbell or when your delivery person arrives, you will be able to give him his cue word and he will know exactly what's expected
  • sit/stays and down/stays - have your dog where you know where he is and where he will be when you get back
  • loosh leash walking - how nice would it be to have a nice walk with your pet, to be able to walk down the sreet at your own pace instead of his?
  • crate training - teach your pup to use a crate so that he will use it as his den
  • potty training - I will write you up a treatment plan for potty training

All training is done through Positive Reinforcement.  Positive Reinforcement is the presentation of something pleasurable or rewarding immediately following a desired behavior.  It makes that behavior more likely to occur in the future and is one of the most powerful tools for shaping or changing your dog's behavior.

Please understand, that the basics of any good training program requires that your dog trust you and using an instrument of pain will do just the opposite. It will make him fearful and distrustful of you.  We do not use the antiquated method of choke chains, prong collars, bark collars, shock collars or harsh punishment.

NOTE TO SELF: If my dog has any of the above stated torture devices, remove when calling Hush Puppy NJ, they aren't necessary.

Group Classes

Hush Puppy NJ does not offer group classes at this time.

Alot of trainers hold group classes and they are excellent trainers, I prefer one on one to give you and your dog personalized attention.
