Hi, I'm Andrea Denequolo, Positive Reinforcement trainer in the Phoenix, Arizona area. My Beagles are the reason I started Hush Puppy Obedience Training. I became proactive, which kept me from being reactive to my problematic pooches.
I became a certified pet dog trainer through Animal Behavior College; a hands on college that teaches Learning Theory, Canine Behavior and Positive Reinforcement methods. I am currently on several email lists that discuss canine behavior which continuously provide me with most up to date training methods. I volunteered my time with The Jersey Dog Trainer for 2 years in her obedience classes and I was the lead trainer for Ozark Acres German Shepherd and Wolf Rescue of Burlington County for 2009. In addition I was invited to speak in the Burlington County School District educating the students in dog behavior and communication.
There are reasons for your dog's behavior and part of being a responsible dog owner is understanding that behavior and working with your dog to redirect it.
A lot of pet owners believe their pets experience emotion in the same manner as humans and to a degree they are correct. Pets can mourn, they can become excited, they act lazy or stubborn, so it's easy to make the leap and say "He knows he did wrong because he took off running when I walked in the door". Things are not always what they seem, your pup took off running because you walked in expecting to see a mess and he read your stiff body language and your furrowed brow and knew you were in a bad mood already. Dogs live in the moment; they have no clue what they did this morning is what they're being punished for in the afternoon, your dog is reading your body language, every single time he looks at you.Is your dog exhibiting unwanted behavior around the house or in public? Then it's time to be Proactive instead of Reactive. And that's what I do at Hush Puppy Obedience Training, I will give you the skills to learn how to work with your dog so you can become a team.
Together we'll put your dog on voice commands and hand signals. Hush Puppy Obedience Training can help you understand what makes your dog act the way he does and we will work together to find a proactive solution to make your life and your dog's life much more enjoyable, together.
